Diablo 4 Season 15 is expected to arrive around September 15, 2026, and the road to Torment 12 looks very different from the usual seasonal sprint. Soul Splinters will replace ordinary gems in jewellery, while Leoric's Crown returns with a powerful socket bonus. That changes how you build from the ground up. You will also want to watch the market for useful D4 items, especially once strong Unique bases start appearing. More than raw damage, your early priority should be covering the resistances that your chosen Splinters leave exposed.
Build Around Resistances First
Charms are about to become one of the most valuable defensive slots. Their Greater Affix resistance rolls are expected to rise from roughly 787 to more than 3,000. That is a serious upgrade. A high resistance Charm can save a jewellery socket and let you keep more offensive stats elsewhere. For many builds, a Charm with a Greater Affix resistance and +2 to Hellfire skills will beat a +3 skill Charm. Losing a small amount of damage is easy to accept when it stops one mistake from becoming a death.
Socket Planning That Actually Works
Soul Splinters have strong effects, but each one brings its own resistance pattern. Leoric's Crown counts as jewellery and boosts a socketed gem or Splinter by 75 to 100 percent, so it belongs in serious endgame plans. Put Splinters in the helm and jewellery, then leave chest and trousers open for Runes. Most characters will need only two ordinary elemental gems. If your stash is full of Topaz and Sapphire fragments, visit the Jeweller and turn the spare material into Rubies for more life.
Where Your Time Pays Off
At level 70, Baleful Chests in PvP zones can provide item power 850 gear, giving fresh characters a quick route into Torment 1. After that, focus on Corrupted Roots from Tree of Whispers caches. Planting one creates an Exposed Root event with crafting materials, Volatile Primordial Dust, and chances at a Kullean Tuning Prism. Scosglen Helltides are especially good for Forgotten Souls. For experience, push towards Paragon 125 to 130 through Helltide Maggots or Kurast Undercity runs with Jade Epiphany.
Crafting Priorities and Route Choices
Keep Unique drops with three or four Greater Affixes. The Horadric Cube can turn a suitable Unique into a Mythic item, although only one crafted Mythic may be equipped. War Plans should match your goal: Fortune or Famine improves early cache quality, Bursting Brood helps with boss trophies, and Idols of War supports Mythic Tribute crafting. In The Pit, Choron's Blessing, Choron's Haste, and Heart of Stone improve glyph progress. For Runes, combine five rare runes of one type through Amalgamation rather than letting them gather dust. This steady approach makes D4 items buy choices easier to judge when you are filling the last gaps in a Torment 12 setup.
